The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
This sacrament is intended for any person whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age. Through this sacrament, the Holy Spirit shares the blessings of health, trust in God, and strength against temptation. Anointing of the Sick enables the Church to share with a person a new strength to bear suffering bravely and even to fight against suffering. This sacrament always ministers to the whole person and strives to bring about a deep inner healing, as well as the forgiveness of sins when necessary. The Sacrament of the Sick can be celebrated more than once by an individual.
Parishioners planning to enter the hospital are encouraged to make arrangements to receive this sacrament prior to admission. The sacrament is also available the first Saturday of each month immediately following the 4:00 p.m. Mass.
