Fr. Roque Lim’s family emigrated from the Philippines to Baltimore in 1974. His early education was in the Baltimore City Public School system where he learned to speak English. He went on to higher learning at the University of Maryland, Baltimore City and received a B.S. in Medical Technology. He then earned a Master’s degree in Applied Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He spent the next twelve years working in hospitals and medical facilities. In 1999 he entered the seminary formation via Msgr. Barker. In 2006, after receiving the Master’s of Divinity degree from Mount Saint Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, he was ordained a Priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. His assignments have included being the Associate Pastor at St. Joseph, Cockeysville and at St. Joseph, Fullerton. In 2012 he was assigned to be the Chaplain to the sick from St. Margaret Church in Bel Air. He has now been assigned to reside at St Ignatius, Hickory and to continue his work as Chaplain to the sick. He is quoted saying “I’m thankful to God for guiding my life so that I can merge my medical and pastoral education.”
